Skin tags
A skin tag is a tumor in the sense that it is a growth. Skin tags however, are a benign condition which means that it's harmless.
Skin tags occur most often after midlife and are very common. Women have a bigger chance at getting skin tags then men. Skin tags are usually painless and do not grow or change.
Skin tags are usually located on the eyelids, armpits, neck and upper body but they can occur anywhere on the skin. Their origin is unknown.
Skin tags treatment
Treatment is not really necessary but may be done when the skin tags are irritating or are cosmetically displeasing. The skin tags may be surgically removed (cut off), freezed off (cryotherapy) or electrically burned off (cautery). This sounds scary but you usually don't feel any pain.
After treatment there is no regrowth of the skin tags nor scar formation, though new skin tags may pop up anywhere on the body.
