head home louse remidies

Hi there and welcome!
On this page we'll describe some of the best head home louse remidies.

The head home louse is a small parasite which clings to human hair and which bites the scalp to feed. It is passed from head to head by direct contact and cannot jump! It is becoming increasingly common and it doesn’t mind whether the hair is clean or dirty.

The head louse may create an irritation on the scalp, but many people can have them for years and not have any itching or discomfort. However they are able to pass them easily to other people.

Headlice are not just restricted to children... most children catch headlice from adults. However head to head contact in classrooms and at play increases the passage from one child to another.

Many headlice have become resistant to the lotions which we formerly used to kill them, hence we no longer recommend treatment with headlice lotions. However we do recommend that all children and adults periodically inspect their hair for lice. The louse is about 2 to 4mm in length and has a central section with six legs, and a large abdomen which may be pale in new-born lice, or dark in older, larger lice.

If lice are found, then everyone in the family, and any other relatives who may come into head contact, should comb their hair daily with a louse comb (nit comb) after washing the hair (use this shampoo) and applying this conditioner. The conditioner loosens the grip of the headlouse, allowing it to be combed-out. Combs and hairbrushes should be washed in hot water regularly.

A home remedy to prevent headlice infestation can be made by infusing juniper berries in a bottle of cider vinegar, and then rubbing this into the scalp daily. Another alternative is Tea Tree Oil.
